WHO WE ARE

What’s Up is an independent publication launched and run by two professional educators: Dr Mary George, a former NIE faculty member and now a child development consultant, and Dr Cherian George, a former Straits Times journalist who is now a professor of media at the Hong Kong Baptist University.

What’s Up is our attempt to awaken children’s interest in current affairs in ways that are sensitive to their needs to feel safe in this world. We pride ourselves in delivering values-driven journalism. There’s a lot going on in the world today, good and bad. Adults can’t shield children from all of it. But, we can help kids learn about world events in a place that’s not only fun and stimulating, but also safe and educational.
